Competition begins to heat up as the Trinidad and Tobago Karting Association held its third event on May 15. Conditions remained overcast for the entire day however the weather held creating cool overcast conditions which were ideal for racing.
Not only the weather was scorching at the Trinidad & Tobago Karting Association’s # 4 that occurred last Sunday at their home ground – the Arima Race Course. There was some very exciting driving action that roused the crowd. Some of the keenest competition emanated from the Rotax International class with young Craig Sumair eventually claiming the 1st place trophy in Kart # 192. What’s a bump here and there among fellow competitors? The Shifter class also provided some exciting action as well – Ryan Garcia returned to the sport after a 2-year hiatus, showed why he was Shifter’s 2008 Champion and that he has not forgotten how to race his United Auto/United Bearings sponsored # 125.
The fifth event in the Trinidad and Tobago Karting Association calendar was held on June 26. Track conditions were wet initially as Mother Nature had her way just after the qualifying laps were completed forcing teams to make changes to their equipment set up and tire choices. Competitors had a challenging time in the early races but conditions improved as the day wore on.
