Not only the weather was scorching at the Trinidad & Tobago Karting Association’s # 4 that occurred last Sunday at their home ground – the Arima Race Course. There was some very exciting driving action that roused the crowd. Some of the keenest competition emanated from the Rotax International class with young Craig Sumair eventually claiming the 1st place trophy in Kart # 192. What’s a bump here and there among fellow competitors? The Shifter class also provided some exciting action as well – Ryan Garcia returned to the sport after a 2-year hiatus, showed why he was Shifter’s 2008 Champion and that he has not forgotten how to race his United Auto/United Bearings sponsored # 125.

The Karting Association’s 2011 Championship Season has seen a growth among its competitors and the introduction of a newly constituted MINIMAX class to bridge the gap between the 100CC and Rotax categories. There were also some returning participants such as David Coelho who’s also a successful High Speed Stages Rally driver, Ryan Garcia and the Mohammed brothers – Richard and Mark, Evans Hosein and Randoll Doon. Among the newcomers are Reza Ali, Anil Ramdeen and George Deen.
